①High cell content

The number of MSCs derived from the fat contained in adipose tissue is 500 times the amount of MSC※2 contained in bone marrow (1). The amount of MSC derived from bone marrow is limited when collected, but the amount of MSC derived from fat can be collected from whole body fat tissue.

②Producing large amounts of growth factors (cytokines)

Fat-derived MSCs produce many growth factors (regenerative factors) such as HGF (hepatocellular growth factor) and VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) that contribute to repair. The internal organs are better than elements derived from bone marrow (2).

③Cultivation is possible even for the elderly

The number of MSC decreases with age. Not only is it affected by aging, but it has also been reported that the growth rate of bone marrow MSCs decreases with the rate of aging (3).
In contrast, fat-derived MSCs can develop without problems, even from old adipose tissue.

④Causing less burden for patients

Because adipose tissue is located close to the surface of the body, there is less burden on the patient during collection.

Question

Q.What is the difference from PRP (platelet rich plasma) therapy?

PRP is a treatment that is obtained by dissociation of blood, not by culture. So, unlike stem cell therapy, it contains few growth factors and cytokines, and stimulating effect on cells cannot be expected. (There are also reports of risk of skin problems such as inflammation)
