Stem cell therapy from autologous fat

Stem cell therapy from autologous fat?

Stem cells are extracted from the patient’s own fat and are cultured to enrich the “stem cells” and “cytokines *1” secreted from the stem cells.
It is a treatment that brings stem cells and cytokines that have been regenerated into the body by infusion or injection.
Fat-derived stem cells are able to differentiate into internal organs other than fat cells such as the digestive tract, muscles and bones, and are expected to repair damaged or aging cells.
In addition, cytokines released from stem cells directly affect the surrounding cells and may have various therapeutic effects such as controlling the immune system, angiogenesis, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, Anti-apoptosis, tissue repair …

*1 What are cytokines? … During cell culture, many proteins called “cytokines” are released into the culture medium to activate, grow and proliferate. Cytokine plays an important role in restoring the function of damaged tissues and cells in the body, and can be thought to have the effect of restoring cells lost due to aging.

Characteristics of fat-derived stem cell therapy

①High cell content

The number of MSCs derived from the fat contained in adipose tissue is 500 times the amount of MSC※2 contained in bone marrow (1). The amount of MSC derived from bone marrow is limited when collected, but the amount of MSC derived from fat can be collected from whole body fat tissue.

②Producing large amounts of growth factors (cytokines)

Fat-derived MSCs produce many growth factors (regenerative factors) such as HGF (hepatocellular growth factor) and VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) that contribute to repair. The internal organs are better than elements derived from bone marrow (2).

③Cultivation is possible even for the elderly

The number of MSC decreases with age. Not only is it affected by aging, but it has also been reported that the growth rate of bone marrow MSCs decreases with the rate of aging (3).
In contrast, fat-derived MSCs can develop without problems, even from old adipose tissue.

④Causing less burden for patients

Because adipose tissue is located close to the surface of the body, there is less burden on the patient during collection.

※2 ※ What are mesenchymal stem cells (MSC)? …Mesenchymal stem cells are one of the human stem cells and are also known as MSC.MSCs are found throughout the body, including bone marrow, fat and skin. In addition, the nature of MSC varies slightly depending on the location. Although MSC was originally defined as cells that can differentiate into fat, bone and cartilage, they can also differentiate into a number of other tissue cells (liver, nerve, etc)

The effectiveness of treatment by stem cells derived from autologous fat

Controlling the immune system
Regulate and suppress the immune system. It is expected to be effective against allergies like atopic dermatitis and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.
Increasing blood vessels
Create new blood vessels to improve blood circulation. It may be effective for arteriosclerosis.
Anti-inflammatory effects
It inhibits inflammation in the body, and is expected to have an anti-aging effect on arthritis, skin and blood vessels.
Reduce active oxygen and prevent cell aging.
Effective repair institutions
Helps repair and regenerate damaged or dysfunctional tissues.
Preventing cell death
Prevent apoptosis, a form of cell death.

About the disadvantages of stem cell therapy

  • ①Because the medical technology is so modern, there is little evidence from randomized comparative trials (RCTs).
  • ②The pathological relationship and effectiveness of treatment have not been clear, but there have been reports of a case of pulmonary embolism in the past.
    * At our job, the treatment is closely monitored and maximized safety.

The procedure for treatment with stem cells from autologous fat

  • ① First examination The doctor will advise, explain the treatment as well as fill out the consent form for treatment. After careful review, the customer who wants treatment will fill in the consent form.
Qualified tests (primarily blood tests) will be performed before treatment.
  • ② Sampling Local anesthetist and fat sample from patient (about 10 g)
In addition, we will also draw blood for use in cell culture (60 ml)
  • ③ Cell culture Cultivation takes about 3-4 weeks at the cell processing facility with the highest standards of culture technology and safety. We will notify you of the treatment schedule after completion of culture.
  • ④ Bringing back to the body Giving back to the body by infusion
    Example: About 50 – 200 million stem cells in 1 ml *
  • ⑤ Tracking Visit and monitor about 60 days after the first dose.

■Stem cell therapy from autologous fat Optional:culture supernatant (※It is possible to be created and cultured once only)

It refers to the cytokines and growth factors that are produced when mesenchymal stem cells are cultured. It is highly effective in promoting tissue repair and regeneration.

culture supernatant
(※It is possible to be created and cultured once only)

  • ※The number of cells to be administered is limited to a maximum of 200 million cells per dose.
  • ※Culture fees are listed as a rough guide for gross profit calculation. Various blood tests for the first time and after the second year, freezing and storage fees will be charged.
    • 1 Patients with positive test results for infectious diseases (HCV, HBV, HIV, HTLV-1, syphilis serodiagnosis)
    • 2 Patients who have allergic reactions to local anesthetics, penicillin used during culture, streptomycin, and amphotericin B.
    • 3 Patients with severe cardiac, hematological, pulmonary, renal, or hepatic diseases, brain diseases, psychiatric diseases, malignant tumors, or diabetes.
    • 4 Patients with severe organ damage, such as severe diabetes (HbA1c 7.0% or higher), severe heart failure, or renal failure (creatinine clearance less than 30 ml/min).

Q.What is the difference from PRP (platelet rich plasma) therapy?

PRP is a treatment that is obtained by dissociation of blood, not by culture. So, unlike stem cell therapy, it contains few growth factors and cytokines, and stimulating effect on cells cannot be expected. (There are also reports of risk of skin problems such as inflammation)
